does cbd oil work for vulvodynia

CBD Miracle

I live in chronic pain daily from at least one/all of my many conditions Vulvodynia, endometriosis, & gastrointestinal(still undiagnosed!!).

I’ll cut to the chase, rather than bore you about my sucky pain. Anyway, I decided to order some CBD oil on a whim to help my anxiety. It came this week, which happens to fall on literally the best time for it to come. I’m super stressed with a major project, am on my period, so that means pain everywhere, and here is what happens.

My chronic yeast infections that always last the length of my period GONE after 2 days on it, cramps markedly better, vulva pain nonexistent, anxiety gone, sleep vastly improved.

I cannot believe it, I feel like a new person. In case you’re wondering I ordered 1000 mg concentration tincture that I administer 3-4 drops twice daily.

I’m hoping this isn’t a fluke. Has anyone else had success with CBD? I’ll report back again next cycle when the worst pain and yeast infections typically start.

*That might be a lot for other people but I’ve been a marijuana smoker for almost 20 years, so I was worried the lower concentration may not work as well for me. *

What is CBD

ProTouch Physical Therapy is happy to announce that we are now offering CBD topicals as an option during treatment. If you’ve noticed a significant difference in your recovery with our manual therapy techniques, CBD can now amplify relief and accelerate recovery. If you are interested in adding CBD lotion to your next treatment, let our front desk know.

For starters, CBD (cannabidiol) is not the same as THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is one of over 100 cannabinoids and is the primary psychoactive element within the marijuana plant. CBD, on the other hand, is also a cannabinoid or molecules produced uniquely by the cannabis family and that interact with our human endocannabinoid system. CBD can be found in three categories: isolate, broad spectrum, and full spectrum. While full spectrum CBD does have trace amounts of THC, it will not get you “high”. In the state of NJ, CBD must be extracted by the hemp plant and contain no more than 0.3% THC. Protouch Physical Therapy carefully chooses a CBD farm that follows these guidelines while providing third party lab-tested results. CBD is important because

How CBD works with the Endocannabinoid System

CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), a cell-signaling system composed of cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoid molecules, and their metabolic enzymes. The ECS was recently discovered in the early 1990’s and research is still being done to fully understand how significant this system is to our body’s ability to recover and heal itself.

Why we choose “full spectrum” CBD

Not all CBD is the same! Typically, CBD products are broken up into three categories: isolate, broad spectrum, and full spectrum. Isolate CBD is when only CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant (leaving all other useful cannibinoids behind). Broad spectrum CBD, unlike isolate, will extract all of the cannibinoids within the cannabis plant except for THC. Lastly, there is full spectrum – which in our opinion is the superior option of all three.

Full spectrum CBD does not leave any cannibinoids behind within the extraction process, including THC; it preserves all of the therapeutic cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids that occur naturally in hemp.

Why do we choose this option when purchasing CBD? Because as the “entourage effect” states, “cannabis compounds act synergistically to modulate the overall psychoactive effects of the plant, primarily by the action of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).” In other words, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and thus the benefits of CBD are magnified when working alongside other naturally occuring cannibinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that occur naturally in hemp.

According to a study by the Hadassah Medical School, “the whole plant extract, which contained a large percentage of CBD but also contained traces of the other cannabinoids, proved far more effective than CBD-only solutions in alleviating inflammation and pain sensation. The study demonstrated that a whole plant extract, containing the entire range of cannabinoids present in raw cannabis, will continue to provide relief for inflammation as the dose is increased.”
