Afraid of Public Speaking? Try CBD Hemp Oil.
I heard somewhere that people are more afraid of public speaking than they are of dying.
This never made sense to me because I always liked public speaking. I am scared of plenty of things but public speaking isn’t one of them.
Giving a speech, especially on a topic I am passionate about, really charges me up.
I realize I am an exception. Most people do not like public speaking.
And like it or not, you will have to give a speech at some point be it for a college class, a presentation at work, or your best friend’s wedding.
You are going to have to speak publicly!
Before you freak out, we may have a little tool to help make your public speaking experience a little easier.
CBD Oil for Anxiety
Researchers have been studying the anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) effects of CBD for many years now.
Researchers are super interested in CBD because it doesn’t seem to have any negative side effects, even at really high doses!
CBD (cannabidiol) is the non-psychoactive cannabinoid in cannabis plants. It doesn’t get you high. That’s THC’s job.
A lot of people like to smoke high percentage THC containing marijuana because the high it brings calms them down.
They like getting high because it helps them relax.
If THC works for you, we are all for that!
But if you are like me, the THC in marijuana actually makes your more anxious.
THC doesn’t calm me down, it makes my mind race too much. It makes my thoughts over active and unorganized.
That’s why I don’t use marijuana very much anymore.
Researchers first became interested in using CBD for anxiety when they noticed that CBD was decreasing the high brought on by THC.
The researchers thought: “Hmmm…if CBD kills the psychoactive effects of THC, maybe CBD could kill the anxious thoughts and increased psychoactivity of people suffering from anxiety!”
Logical, for sure.
And definitely worth studying, especially because CBD has far fewer negative side effects than most of the commonly used anti-anxiety medications prescribed by doctors.
This is what the researchers did:
Volunteers for the study were told to prepare a 4 minute speech on a topic from a course they had taken that year.
They were told the speech would be filmed for later analysis by a psychologist.
Each volunteer gave the speech while viewing themselves on a video monitor.
Their anxiety levels were measured using something called the Visual Analogue Mood Scale (VAMS).
The VAMS test measures anxiety, physical sensation, mental sedation, and feelings of interest.
These factors were tested at five distinct time points: baseline (before the start of the speech), right before instructions were given, right before giving the speech, in the middle of the speech, and right after the speech.
Researchers also measured the heart rate and blood pressure of the volunteers.
The volunteers were randomly given one of four drugs: 300 mg of CBD, 5 mg of isapirone (research chemical for depression/anxiety), 10 mg of diazepam (Valium), or a placebo.
The results were fantastic in showing how good CBD can be for anxiety!
Volunteers who received CBD, diazepam (Valium), and isapirone all showed a decrease in anxiety and systolic blood pressure.
Volunteers who got the diazepam (Valium) experienced feeling physical sedation.
Volunteers who got CBD and isapirone did not experience physical sedation, mental sedation, or other negative side effects.
The study confirmed that CBD can be an effective way to manage anxiety without negative side effects.
What would you rather take: Valium (could make you foggy or sleepy and requires a perscription), isapirone (I don’t even know if you could easily get your hands on this one…plus it’s hard to pronounce!), or CBD (an all natural, over the counter plant medicine which has been used since before Christ’s time)?
I know which one I would pick.
I would always rather go with a plant based medicine over a synthetic chemical with negative side effects.
All the good, without the bad
If you’re like most people and you get anxious about public speaking, give CBD a try.
It may just be the best tool in your kit for delivering some kick ass presentations.
The volunteers who participated in the study were given a 300 mg oral dose of CBD.
While CBD has been proven to be safe in very high doses, that’s still a much bigger dose than we would recommend you take.
At least don’t start with a dose that high.
We always recommend that you start low and work your way up.
No matter what kind of dose you take, make sure you get your CBD from a quality source.
Go with a full plant extract made from the high resin flowers of a hemp plant grown specifically for CBD extraction.

Can CBD Help You Overcome Your Stage Fright?
Stage fright is an anxiety reaction that occurs before a specific social situation. It occurs when a person must carry out some type of activity before the public, be it speaking, singing, acting, etc. It is an anxiety disorder characterized by the fear of an audience, generating a panic reaction that can manifest itself on a cognitive, physiological, or behavioural level.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is generally of great help to several diseases and disorders including anxiety disorders. Stage fright can be a big issue for many speakers from beginners to experienced speakers, particularly those who may have become out of practice in recent times. Here, we explore how CBD can help reduce the stress of public speaking, even on the day of the event.
Why people get stage fright
Stage fright happens for several reasons. One of the main ones is that the public is not indifferent to the speaker, and the speaker feels evaluated by them, afraid of rejection and therefore feels the responsibility to be liked and respected at the level that the listeners expect. In this sense, it can be said that it is a fear with a positive and adaptive function that, if managed well, will lead the person to make an effort and get the best of themselves in front of the audience.
Another possible trigger for this fear is the fact of not being used to exposing oneself to an audience. On some occasions, this fear also appears at a very definite moment in time, after a specific traumatic episode when exposed to an audience. Some examples are going blank, not knowing how to answer a question or feeling very ill physically, falling or fainting.
Another trigger for anxiety is when the person is out of practice. With many people not having delivered in big events as a result of COVID-19, there are a lot of people that will be out of practice and they will be very anxious about going back to the stage, possibly leading to anxiety and or stage fright.
These episodes usually cause a great deal of suffering in the person and the person becomes unable to make adequate exposure, again leading to fear of success.
What does it feels like?
Stage fright can be expressed by many and varied symptoms, and even get to trigger anxiety attacks. The most common manifestations are:
- On a physical level: a feeling of suffocation or difficulty breathing, tremors, rapid heartbeat, sweating, dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, frequent urge to urinate, facial flushing, severe headache, muscle tension, dry mouth, etc.
- On a psychological level: dispersion, confusion, difficulty in attending, concentrating, and remembering. The appearance of negative and disabling thoughts about the person himself or his performance. Fear of failure, negative criticism, making a fool of yourself, or being blank, among others. Catastrophic anticipatory thoughts about what is going to happen.
- On a behavioral level: clumsiness, low voice volume, speaking excessively fast, stuttering, remaining silent, intense desire to avoid the situation or to flee from it.
Remedies people use to boost their confidence
There are some remedies that can help avoid anxiety before speaking in public, such as rehearsing many times. When anxiety is very strong, you can go to support therapies that teach you to face your fears and relax, or also to public speaking classes.
On the other hand, there are psychological therapies, which help the person to move away from negative and self-destructive behaviors and replace fear with useful thoughts that can help them improve.
Here are some common psychological therapy practices to help you lose your fear of public speaking:
- Exposure therapy: it is about overcoming anxiety about speaking in public by exposing yourself to it. When it is not practiced it is more difficult to overcome it, however, if it is practiced only using the imagination, in front of trusted people or even strangers, it will be easier when it is time to expose it.
- Social skills training – Many times people who have public speaking anxiety are shy people. To improve public speaking anxiety, courses on body expression or voice control are useful.
- Relaxation techniques: the biggest problem when speaking in public is nerves. Therefore, knowing good relaxation techniques can be very helpful, for example breathing exercises.
Ultimately, and if the problem becomes disabling, we can go to the doctor to recommend some treatment that can help us reduce the symptoms derived from stage fright.

CBD is a 5-HT1A receptor agonist. In a study published in 2011, Brazilian scientists have highlighted that it appears that CBD has anxiolytic properties that could be harnessed to help people with anxiety disorders. CBD would activate serotonin receptors, an important chemical and neurotransmitter in the human body that helps regulate mood, social behaviour, appetite, digestion, sleep, and memory, among others.
In 2016, Spanish researchers also studied the action of Cannabidiol (CBD) in the management of anxiety disorders: the results showed that CBD offers rapid antidepressant effects. A study conducted a year earlier, concluded the efficacy of CBD in reducing anxiety disorders that can have multiple origins, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, among others.
Using CBD in low doses can help reduce the anxiety and panic that comes with stage fright. Hate Public Speaking? 300 mg of CBD Can Make the Jitters Go Away
Do you love public speaking and thrive under the pressure of standing before large crowds? Good for you.
For those of us who aren’t quite so gifted in the art of public speaking without getting some kind of performance anxiety jitters, there’s a cannabis compound to help with that: cannabidiol (CBD). Or, to be precise, 300 milligrams of it.
According to a study published in the February 2019 Brazilian Journal of Psychiatry , 300 milligrams may be the optimal dose of CBD for treating socially motivated anxiety, such as the immediate anxiety of a public speaking experience.
The study involved a simulated public speaking test where subjects were given doses of CBD from 150 to 600 milligrams. The control group was given a placebo. After measuring blood pressure and heart rates, as well as subject ratings on the Visual Analogue Mood Scale , a test for measuring specific mood states, the study concluded that 300 milligrams of CBD were most effective in reducing anxiety associated with public speaking.

For both patients and physicians, knowing how to properly dose cannabis for medicinal use is still fairly cloudy territory due to the lack of available data, and legal roadblocks that have prevented cannabis research on human test subjects. The effects of various CBD consumption methods (smoking, vaping, and sublingual sprays) and of CBD itself from person to person also make it difficult to pinpoint the most effective doses.
Previous studies have demonstrated CBD’s general efficacy in treating social anxiety (also by using SPSTs), and animal studies have shown similar doses of CBD to be effective in treating anxiety symptoms. Not only does this most recent study provide further evidence that CBD is an effective anti-anxiety medicine, it also gives us a much better idea of how much CBD we should take next time we have a speaking engagement and need help to take the edge off, immediately.
Cannabis Dosing Not an Exact Science Yet
While this study identified the effective dose for public speaking anxiety among its participants, it’s important to note everyone’s endocannabinoid system is different. What works for one patient may not work the same way for another.

CBD interacts with our bodies through our endocannabinoid system (ECS) , which regulates our bodies, returns us to a state of internal balance, and triggers our responses to cannabis compounds, or cannabinoids . The ECS is present throughout the entire body, consisting of three main components : cannabinoid receptors, endocannabinoids (or internal cannabinoids), and the enzymes that break them down. CBD sets off a response in the body by binding to cannabinoid receptors. Genetic mutations of these receptors may cause the body’s response to CBD to vary from person to person.
For example, scientists have identified nine variations of the human CB1 receptor gene. CB1 is one of two cannabinoid receptors with which CBD interacts. If you’re walking around with one of nine variations of the CB1 receptor, your body’s response to CBD may differ from that of your friend with a different variation. Such variables in the ECS make it impossible to guarantee 300 milligrams of CBD will effectively treat your public speaking anxiety. But given the extremely low risk associated with consuming CBD , even in large amounts, it may be worth a shot to experiment with moderate doses and see what works for you.
